K. W. Andri interviewed by Voula Papatsiflikioti for tovivlio.net:

What was your first experience with writing?
My first experience with writing is when I was 9 years old. I wrote and illustrated with drawings a fairy tale with horses. My parents still have it in the library of their house.

What does ‘write’ means to you?
‘Write’ for me means sharing. Sharing messages, emotions, stories. Every character I create and every scene I tell matters. Each one of my books is a big part of me. I start to write for myself, since I like this getaway, and I continue to write for the readers, who I want them to feel full and that they earned something from the book when they close it. A travel, new friends, positive messages that will help them even in their everyday life.

Was there a person in your life, who played an important part for your occupation with the world of writing?
Yes, there was a man, who is not with us anymore, but he is still playing a huge part for my occupation with the world of writing and that big step I took in my life.

Tell us a few things about your book series ‘Twin Flames’.
The books of my series, takes the reader to a parallel world, which was created completely by myself. My places, my creatures and even my language. In this world the mythology and reality harmoniously coexists. Imagination freely “penetrates” into the rational flow of the myth, around a perpetual battle between light and darkness. People know how to fear the darkness, but what happens when someone is scared of the light?
There is a continuous and intense characters development during the entire story, since the very first book and through the heroine’s eyes the reader can watch all this happening. The human inability to "capture" the beauty and the truth of life appears, but the strength of the ‘Twin Flame’ comes to teach two of the heroes, Colin and Anya, the purpose they have in this life, the courage they hide inside them, the big truth that sometimes can be scary and the meaning of true friendship and love.
“The Altar of the Five Mountains” is the first book of the series. It’s translated from Greek in English and was released this year, while “The Snake of the Ocean” will soon follow.

Do you think that the Greek readers are responding positive to the fantasy world?
I dare to say that I see big and fast changes on this topic. And I am very glad about it. More and more Greek readers are responding in a very positive and warm way in the fantasy world.

Is there a book that you wish you’d written?
There are a lot of books that I love and admire, but no. There is no book that I wish I’d written. Just because I believe that every book ‘belongs’ to its writer, since nobody else could have said the story in the same way, giving us the same messages.

What’s your favorite quote?
“Go big or go home”, which I have tattooed on my arm, because I love to live my life this way. When I do something, I always risk and give it all.

Do you prepare something new?
Yes, I am writing the third book from the “Twin Flames” series.

The 1st National Fantasy Convention, ΦantastiCon 2015, took place on 3-4 October 2015 at the premises of the Hellenic-American Union. Members of the Greek fantasy community, artists, groups of young people who are still discovering the magical world of fantasy, aficionados of the fantastic genre, even families with small children came and filled the spacious halls of the Union.

All together, we attended seminars, panels and presentations, we had fun playing games, enjoyed artistic performances, admired the handmade costumes of the cosplayers, took our picture at the Startrooper and Princess cutouts, were introduced to the work of young artists and the latest book publications.

We would like to thank all the visitors, who honored us with their presence at our first festival. We hope they enjoyed the experience and will come again to our future events.  We would also like to thank all the participants, as well as the people of the Hellenic-American Union, who believed in our vision for a grand celebration of Fantasy and provided the venue for it.

A big “thank you” goes, of course, to our publicity sponsors and especially to the guys and gals of Spoileralert.gr, who ran a live newsfeed through-out both days and made beautiful pictures and videos.

The Red Cross Samaritans were there, ready to assist if needed. We thank them for their voluntary support.

Finally, there are no words to express our gratitude to our magnificent volunteers. We couldn’t have made it without their valuable help and good cheer.

This has been a unique experience for us. We hope that Φantasticon will grow, be better and get established as a national annual event.
